Oh My Gosh!

I actually harvested something from my garden! The peppers are a little blah but the 'maters are divine!

They're alive!

I have two tomato plants and three pepper plants that have survived the spring storms and cats. One pepper plant was literally transplanted - probably scratched up by the cats - and has taken root about three inches from and second plant.

Driving by a Lowe's store yesterday, I saw they still had some healthy, nice sized vegetable plants. I'll probably check out their stock tomorrow and see if I can replenish anything.

Survivors from last year include lavender, rosemary, and chives. They're flourishing, as well as a nice, healthy clump of bermuda.

Tiller Troubles

We went to Home Depot all prepped to drop some change on their biggest, heaviest, most high-dollar tiller.

They had none in stock.

Oh, they were more than happy to tell me what I wanted to hear! The manager on duty found a PO for another store that showed two tillers on order. Why, first thing next week, he'd check on that PO and let me know the status. He'll make sure they hold one for us when the tillers arrive.

I never heard from him again. What a dweeb.

We've discussed enlarging our haphazard gardening efforts, and the tiller is a must. The transmission went out on our present tiller, which will cost more to repair than it will to purchase a new machine. Time to fall back and punt?

Garden Gone To Hail

I finally got those poor suffering little plants placed in my garden. The very night of their transplant, they had to weather a severe rain/hail/wind storm. They weren't lookin' too nifty the next day.

Give the barn cats a few days to use the newly turned garden as their litter box....

Add a few extra torrential storms.....

May garden has gone to hail.

This weekend would be a lovely time to look for some new plants to replace the battered and scratched ones. Hubby has other plans - chipping dead limbs.

I think my summer vegetables are going to come from the vegetable stand this year. Maybe I'll start planning now for my fall crops.

My Bathroom Garden

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased innocent baby plants at Atwood's and brought them home to nourish with my brown thumb. They still sit in the guest bathroom.

Poor things would love to be sitting in the garden flourishing. I just can't seem to find time between hail storms to get them out.

Maybe tomorrow, little plants! Hang in there!
